Tracey Emin shot to fame as part of the group known the YBAs (Young British Artists). Her work Everyone I Have Ever Slept With was shown in the exhibition Sensation, mounted by Charles Saatchi at the Royal Academy in London in 1997, two years later Emin was nominated for the Turner Prize.
Emin was chosen to join the Royal Academy of Arts in London as a Royal Academician in 2007 the same year she represented Britain at the Venice Biennale.
