DOUBLET, MIMI
Doublet works from her studio, a partly derelict manor house in Normandy, Northern France. Her reflective and sometimes haunting works are in fact self portraits. With the assistance of a time controlled camera she poses herself and then makes her works from the resulting photographs. In her words, "I aim to portray myself at significant moments in my life, at times when I perhaps do not feel equipped to complete a drawing but prefer instead to quickly photograph myself. I want to capture a mood, a moment in time that will never come again, for me to return to later."
In these works, Doublet invites us to share a personal experience but decides to not be too specific as to the event that inspired each work, "I love the idea that the viewer can reflect their own experiences on to my work, making each piece unique to every viewer".
